Euro Care Group - Partners
By developing strategic partnerships in the area of specialist healthcare services Euro Care has been able to bring these services to areas where previous there were infrastructure deficits. Examples of this are:
- The UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre
- The Whitfield VHI Swift care Minor Injuries Clinic
- The Whitfield Baxter Renal Dialysis Facility
UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre

The UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre addresses the need for radiotherapy services in the Southeast region of Ireland, offering equal access to state-of-the-art treatment and imaging services for public and private patients. The Cancer Centre is built on UPMCs hub and satelliteEmodel that links patients being treated at Whitfield to the expertise and technology available at UPMCs Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one of the top cancer centers in the United States. UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre offers convenient access to a wide range of treatment options, including intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), a state-of-the-art treatment that delivers radiation to tumours with greater accuracy and precision, resulting in fewer side effects for the patient. Our specialized team of radiation oncology consultants, physicists, and oncology nurses works together to determine the best course of treatment and care for each patients specific needs. In attracting UPMC to invest in Ireland, Euro Care Group was able to bring a world class provider of cancer treatment to the people of the South East and achieve its aim of partnering with the best of breed healthcare providers to deliver this.
Vhi Swiftcare Clinics Minor Injuries Unit
The Whitfield VHI Swiftcare unit opened in September 2008 and follows the same model which has already proved so successful in the three existing facilities in Dublin, providing walk-in, rapid assessment, treatment and advice for patients with a range of minor injuries and illnesses.
The three existing Vhi SwiftCare Clinics have treated approximately 100,000 patients to date, with an average of 1100 patients each week currently visiting the facilities. The top five conditions currently presenting at the clinics are soft tissue injuries, fractures, sprains & strains, respiratory problems and minor cuts. Approximately 40% of patients visiting the clinics have required x-rays, and the remainder have received consultations in relation to non skeletal presentations including minor burns, cuts requiring a stitch, sporting injuries and other non-urgent conditions.
The experience of VHI Swiftcare Clinics to date has shown that patients clearly understand the concept and the types of conditions that these clinics treat. They welcome an alternative to visiting an A&E Department when they have a minor injury. Euro Care Group are pleased to bring this choice to patients in Waterford city and county through or strategic partnership.
The Whitfield Baxter Renal Dialysis Facility
The hospital also includes a state of the art Renal Dialysis facility which has been developed in partnership with Baxter. The 18 station renal unit will open in Winter 2008.
